I teach singing privately to a number of students at varying levels, alongside other formal teaching roles. I believe my experience in musical performance is a considerable attribute when teaching both children and adults, and I recognise the need to establish a healthy vocal technique from an early age alongside the development of an all round musician.
I have taught privately since 2011 with students ranging from four years to adult. I have therefore developed a great deal of flexibility in my approach to teaching at these varying levels and in adapting to individual students' preferred ways of learning.
Having started my teaching career at Great Ballard School I have held the position of singing teacher at both St Cecilias School (Wandsworth) and Cobham Free School since 2014. From September 2018 I look forward to teaching in the prestigious music department at Goldolphin and Latymer. I help the students to prepare for ABRSM singing grades, covering all aspects of aural and sight-reading both regularly and methodically. I acknowledge the need to encourage the students to work towards goals with their singing, and so I am keen to prepare children for competitions and performance opportunities, formal or otherwise.
I lead classes at The Little London Music School; a small company running music classes for children aged six months to four years. I have also been employed by Artis as a school specialist with a strong musical focus, delivering curriculum led workshops in primary schools.
I am personable, imaginative, lively and engaging. I have a good manner with children and young people in that I am gentle, respectful and encouraging. I have had a detailed grounding in Classical singing technique and I am committed to teaching this technique at all levels to allow my students to sing healthily and achieve their full potential. I am both focussed and organised, whilst I am able to constantly adapt a session according to the dynamic of a group or an individual’s responses. I understand the importance of two-way communication and I am keen to encourage students to express themselves with me. I also understand the value of giving praise and positive feedback to help a student’s confidence.
